The Story of Keltikka Performance Dance Company

The Keltikka Performance Dance Company was established in September of 2006 to promote Irish dance in Darwin and Palmerston. Since 2006, we became the foremost Irish dance studio in Darwin and the Northern Territory.

From February 2008, Keltikka PDC classes have been taught in line with the syllabus from one of many peak organisations. In line with this syllabus, we had the opportunity to offer competition level classes and the possibility to compete interstate, and at state and national representative levels.

In 2013, Keltikka PDC was admitted into the World Irish Dance Association—the first in Australia. Since then, our dancers have been able to look forward to competing overseas as well as within Australia. This move to the World Irish Dance Association will serve to broaden not only our dancers dance experience, but life experience as well.

World Irish Dance Championship Experience

In April 2015, Keltikka PDC set off on a journey to the World Irish Dance Associations World Championships held in Dusseldorf, Germany. The dancer who had qualified to compete in this prestigious event placed 14th in the world in a section of 110 people.

In April 2016, Keltikka PDC once again had champions amongst their dancers with three people qualifying for the world championships. The dancer who made it to the world championships in Brighton, England, danced fantastically. After a lot of hard work, they placed second in the world in a very tough section.

In April 2017, Keltikka PDC had a strong team of four who qualified to compete at the world championships in Killarney, Ireland. This team produced results with dancers placing 4th, 10th, 11th and 25th at the championship.

In April 2018, Keltikka PDC trained hard where we saw the reward of being the first NT studio to train a World Irish Dance Association World Champion Irish Dancer in Maastricht, Netherlands.

In 2019, Keltikka PDC diversified their studio by introducing Ballet Barre to the studio.
